I have another 16-team dynasty-like points league (run on Yahoo) that's looking for 4 new owner/GMs. The league is free and has been going for ~13 years now -- 2017 is its 14th season.
Rules are mostly simpler than typical dynasties, and we do not use actual salaries, but just defer to the players' real life FA status to determine keepability, ie. you can keep a player as long as he has not officially become FA in real life.
Notable veteran FAs definitely in the draft pool this year include Bautista, Cespedes, Ian Desmond, E Encarnacion, J Turner, Fowler, C Gomez, K Morales, Reddick, Trumbo, Rich Hill, Chapman, Jansen, Melancon, et al. -- you can find a fairly complete listing in ESPN's Free Agent Tracker -- along w/ various top youngsters who mostly became listed on Yahoo for the first time (and thus not already owned), eg. V Robles, Senzel, Bellinger, W Adames, Eloy Jimenez, Francis Martes, V Guerrero Jr, Kyle Tucker, et al. And the FA Draft Process is designed to heavily favor weak teams who have very few solid players worth keeping.
The points system is based on a pretty solid sabermetrics formula for offense, which simulates runs created, and is reasonably well balanced from the pitching side w/ something that roughly resembles runs prevented (w/ some bonuses/penalties for wins, losses, saves, holds, blown saves and such). The system is well balanced and has been in use from the very beginning w/ almost no need for adjustments. It looks complicated at first glance, but actually works out fairly simple and true-to-life and yields tight races every year (w/ no repeat champs for the most part).
Currently, we have the Hill-Toppers, Sneaker Pimps and Sluggers available. The first 2 needs a good overhaul and had most-to-all previous players dropped for the Draft -- very doable given our relatively unique FA Draft Process, the available FA pool and our overall system. The last one has a full, very solid roster from last year's neck-and-neck finish at 2nd place, so will have no picks in the Draft.
Hill Toppers -- all kept for full roster, except Suarez; so no draft picks
Sneaker Pimps -- nearly all kept w/ 5 open roster spots; so only middle picks in last 5 rounds
BourbonJacks -- all dropped, except Nelson Cruz and Scherzer; have the 2nd pick each round starting in round #3 (out of only 4 picks per round thru round #16)
Heisenberg -- all dropped; have first 2 picks of the draft and then the 3rd pick of 4 from rounds #3 to #16)
NOTE: There were a few top prospects (like Yoan Moncada and Rafael Devers) who were not kept, so they (along w/ a few quality MLB-ers like Pedroia) will join the FA Draft pool on top of the ones already mentioned above.
Have a look, and if interested, let me know asap as the (extended) keeper selection deadline has passed, and the slow draft will begin soon.
It's quite different from the usual FBB league, which is great if you want to try something different.
Thanks for looking...
