Sorry about the frustration that some GMs feel w/ how this league is going.
Honestly not sure what else we can rationally (and realistically and consistently) do to make this league work better for all, particularly those who are actually very actively involved.
IF folks want to offer input to make this league work better, please do feel free to comment here.
I'm even willing to step down from my own team as part of the solution if that's what it'd actually take...
Shalom...

Definitely not just one issue Man. You built your team up...good on ya. But how is somebody supposed to build their team to compete when others are just giving away their teams and the commissioners are allowing it. My team's in last place. I traded some pieces earlier this year and in the offseason because I knew I wasn't going to compete, but I have a roster stocked with young talent and many assets with tags and picks. I can rebuild and eventually get in the top 5 again. But that's it...if we allow these asinine trades to continue, then the rich will keep getting rich and the rest of us will struggle to get in the top half of the league...again that's not to blame the commissioners. We all evaluate trades differently. There's going to be some subjectivity when evaluating trades...now vs. the future...I just can't expend this much energy to try to build a team the right way and then allow other teams to do get better just by going to the same carcass of a team and exploiting their stupidity.

Man, thanks for starting his thread. It's disappointing to lose two active owners in Ryan and Steve. I assume the owners resigned over the trades Kris and I did with the Rockies. I must admit, when I saw Kris's trade I said to myself, "Dang it!" but only because I didn't think Britton was available (because I didn't ask, to be fair).
I think both trades are fair. I also think it's great how quickly the Red Sox owner has turned their team around.

For some reason Steve has always had a problem with me. Which honestly I don't care. As owners we can trade whomever we want. If the 2 teams agree there shouldn't be any controversy. There have been many trades that I didn't agree on since I started in this league but it is what it is. I just keep trying to make my team better as I see fit. I may have done some not so good trades but I will learn from them and move on. I do love all the attention I'm getting though... ?

Steve, Not sure what to tell yah other than that I haven't really done that much via the trade route in over 2 years. Certainly nothing that could easily be considered trade wins (other than that very minor, recent deal w/ the Royals, which I didn't realize Tolleson actually lost his job at the time and then offered to undo it given the circumstance). You can take a look at my roster page -- and I include plenty of details about my acquisitions -- and see that very few of my current key players (or even prospects) came via trades as already established quality regulars (or even as well-known top tier prospects at the time) and all were at least 2-1/2 years ago -- and in Ortiz's case, he was already old and only retained via RFA (and went thru some age-decline-looking rough stretches where some other GMs might've dropped him if in same position). Also note I haven't had an early 1st round pick in ages -- Frazier at 1.5 was earliest in 9 years since I took Kershaw in the 2nd MiLB Draft for this league, and nobody's ever dealt me a higher drafted prospect (at least one I can recall still valued remotely as such at the time anyway). And no, I do not use paid services (nor play in tons of leagues) to get ahead in case anyone's wondering. Not saying it's easy to do, but I'm pretty sure most other highly active GMs have made at least as many, if not more, favorable trades as I have in the last few years. And it's not like I could claim I knew Trout would turn out this great when I drafted him early-mid-3rd round, LOL (after I took 2 pitching busts ahead of him... and everyone in real-life other than the Angels also snoozed ), or even Kershaw way back when to go w/ various 1st round busts -- Frazier himself was starting to look like he might bust as did Bogaerts after reaching MLB and maybe both Segura and Bradley (as mid-1st rounders) though Segura is bouncing back this year... Anyhoo...

You don't need to make excuses, Man. You win this league because you most frequently make the best decisions.
I think it's ridiculous that you - or anybody else - should feel the need to defend their success.

For someone who doesn't want anything to do with this league, he sure does sign on a lot... Maybe it's time to deactivate his account.

No worries, Andrew.
Not so much defending my success as wanting to show it can be done w/out relying on lopsided trades -- certainly no more than anyone else would have benefited me thinks...

All,
Given the Angels' position in the standings, its roster's ability to compete and particularly the active pitching lineup it was left w/ (and how pitching lineups need to work), I will temporarily monitor and set the best pitching lineup for the team until we find a new GM for it -- I imagine it should not be nearly as hard to find a new GM for this team as for other previously vacant teams that needed full rebuild. Meanwhile, the batting lineup doesn't look like it needs any change for the forseeable future (and I can't realistically do platoons/matchups for it) -- Tulo was put on the DL a couple days before the Angels GM resigned, and there is no obvious good choice to sub in for the rest of his DL stint.
For the most part, I will just be running the team's SPs into its active lineup replacing the least likely helpful RPs -- including sitting RPs who've pitched 3 straight days or would have very clearly unfavorable SP matchups for Save/Hold opps -- unless some particular SP (or his matchup) looks obviously bad going for the forseeable future.
IF there are any objections to this temporary approach to handling the Angels' vacancy, please let me know whether here on via PM, if you prefer...
PS: The Angels did not miss any SP starts after the day Ryan resigned, but it did miss 3 starts on that very day, which we could not have done much about.
