Too late for lumpsum buyout this year. You could opt to lumpsum buyout in 2025 (w/ 2025 $$$) instead... though no need to commit to that right now -- can always wait til anytime during preseason next year (before opening day) for that.

Is start of September the lump sum deadline? So it’ll just be normal buyout; half-salary penalty per remaining years?

Deadline was 8/31 -- same as trade deadline.
You do have the opp to do lumpsum again for previously dropped players during subsequent preseasons (before opening day each year) w/ that year's $.

Got it. Thanks for clarification. Should've known that date already. Luckily, I can just take my half-minimum penalty for next two years; but I sure thought I was being savvy trying to lump sum buy out McNeil & use all my 2024 cap space before 2025 rollover. Dammit. LOL.

Just to make sure we're on the same page... I have cut Jeff McNeil ($800k/24, $800k/25, $800k/26) & owe half ($400k/24, $400k/25, $400k/26).
