The League's 3nd annual prospect draft will begin Sunday March 1, 2009 at 6 AM PST.
1. The draft order below is based on the reversed order of standings and will be the same for each round. (This is not a snake draft.)
Draft Order
Rank........ Team
1 SF Giants
2 Richmond Royals
3 Detroit Tigers
4 TB Devil Rays
5 Oakland A's
6 StL Cardinals
7 Florida Marlins
8 Chicago White Sox
9 New Delhi Indians
10 Angels of Vero Beach
11 Milwaukee Brewers
12 VT Reds
13 NY Mets
14 Chicago Cubs
15 Houston Astros
16 NY Yankees
17 Colorado Rockies
18 Brooklyn Dodgers
2. Players drafted in round #1 will have a salary cost of $500,000. Players selected in the 2nd - 5th rounds will cost at $300,000.
3. Only players who meet the MKIA prospect eligibility criteria and who are under contract to a MLB team may be drafted.
4. Foreign professional players are not eligible for this draft until they have signed with an MLB team. And only those who either have at least some prior regular season MiLB experience in the USA *or* are under the age of 25-yo before the start of the draft will be eligible.
5. Teams will be allowed 6 hours to make their selection. If a pick is skipped, the team may make the pick at their earliest convenience; however, if their next turn to pick occurs prior to doing so, their turn will be automatically skipped.
6. The time clock will not operate from Midnight to 6 AM PST.
7. If the draft runs into the regular season, you may still replace a prospect already on your roster with a newly drafted prospect and not be responsible for 50% of the salary for the released prospect provided that released prospect was not acquired in FA. Otherwise, the usual rules for releasing players apply.
8. Draft picks may be traded no more than 1 year ahead of time.
9. As a courtesy, teams which have completed their selections prior to the end of the draft should advise the LO accordingly so that they can be skipped in subsequent rounds.
10. Any prospect eligible player not drafted may be acquired via MiLB FA after the MKIA draft is completed. However, players acquired by real life MLB via the 2009 June MLB draft are not eligible in FA until after MKIA's 2010 MiLB draft.
11. The MiLB FA process will remain locked until after the completion of this draft*or* the start of the regular season, whichever happens first.
12. Any Franchise deemed to be "inactive" by the LO by virtue of not having a GM, will have their picks made by the LO based on the 1st available player from the 2008 MLB Draft.
