That is pretty weak. On a side note though, I'm shocked to see the Yankees actually display some restraint and not bid on EVERY SINGLE player. Our little moron is growing up so fast

Wow, way to fuck over the GM in RFA with that decision give a.j. to him at 400k or let him go to FA he gets the option to pass on the contract right? though i would agree a league min contract makes more sense, as long as the GM gets an opportunity to match/pass, I guess using the RLC is fine by me. no mention of it in the rules though.

the first thought was a 1 year deal for 400k, the second thought was his 2008 salary, the last thought was this option. ill talk it over with the others.

Suggest that the rules dictate exactly what happens in the event of no bids...i.e. 1 year at the player's real life salary.
That should create enough incentive for the restricting GM to put in a minimum bid and avoid this entire clusterfuck.

AJ will be a 1 yr 400k contract.
There will be something put into the RFA portion of the rules to allow a GM to bid on their own player in the event no other bids were made. Likely, the rule will state that if no bids by anyone were made, that player would be a 1 yr deal at the current MLB salary.
