Hello ALL,
As in previous years, please follow these instructions for the 2010 RFA bidding process:
1. For *EACH* RFA of interest, please send a PM to this account (rfaacount) to submit your single silent bid.
Please do *NOT* lump multiple RFA bids into one PM as that makes it harder for us to tally bids.
If you submit multiple bids/PMs for the same RFA, we will assume the last one is the correct one.
2. For each RFA silent bid PM, you should include the following:
A sample RFA silent bid PM would be:
Subject: Alex Rodriguez
Message: The Dodgers offer RFA Alex Rodriguez an AAS of 25M/year for 5 years.
NOTE: The winning bid is determined soley by the AAS, not the contract length, although the final contract must equal the length specified in the bid.
3. The RFA bidding deadline is set for 1/29 (Friday) at 11:59pm PT.
The silent bid PMs will *NOT* be opened for processing until some time after 9am ET on the following day (Saturday). Hopefully, we will have all RFA auctions processed w/ results posted by around noon ET or so.
4. AFTER all RFA auctions are processed and results posted, we will send out a league-wide email to inform everyone (hopefully not much later than noon ET or so).
And then, each restricting team will have a minimum of 48 hours (until 2/1, Monday night, most likely 11:59pm PT), to either match the high bid(s) w/ the 15% "hometown" discount (and post contract details for the signing(s)) *OR* pass to allow the high bidder(s) to sign the RFA(s). Lack of response will constitute a "pass".
High bidders of unmatched RFAs will then also be given a minimum of 48 hours (most likely until 2/4, Thursday noon PT) to complete their signings.
NOTE:Trading will continue to be allowed throughout the RFA process, including for the purpose to facilitate legal signings of RFAs (either to meet cap requirement or roster limits).
Finally, regular MLB FA will likely begin on 2/5, Friday 6am PT, if all goes according to plan.
Happy bidding!!!
