Last GM decimated the Pro team, from which it may take til 2017 to recover. But somehow he managed to acquire, or set himself up for SIX Top 50 prospects (Sanchez, Moustakas, Parker, Duffy, Lawrie who I traded, Harper coming). And I've seen Thomas Neal ranked up near them too! Who was that crazy GM?!

LOL. Whatever he was thinking, he certainly wasn't planning to contend anytime soon. ;D And that was not the only team he took over (in these leagues) and proceeded to try that kind of rebuild process either...

and you know the worst part? I just saw that he drafted Thomas Neal when Mike Trout was still available! ARRGGHHHHH!!! Hey, what do you say to a Neal for Trout deal?! Straight up! I'll do it!

Neal was just coming off a season where he hit .337/.431/.579 with 22 HR. No one knew just how good Trout was going to be until this season. I wouldn't fault him for that pick.

I think I picked Slade Heathcott while Trout was still available. At the time, though, I remember checking Trout stats and I think he'd hit somewhat normal numbers... my one concern with Trout is that he's still to actually face a season where he needs to struggle or faces failure. I'd like to see how he copes in that environment.
Still, I suppose I'd trade him straight up for Tim Melville if you put a gun to my head... *hint, hint*

LOL. Look at it this way. EVERYONE passed on Trout until I picked him in the 3rd round. Even I passed on him to take Chris Withrow, whom I ultimately dumped before the trade deadline, a full round earlier. ;D FWIW, I also took Mat Latos late in the 3rd round in 2008 and Lonnie Chisenhall late in the 4th round in 2009 -- and you gotta wonder who all coulda gone before each of them. And I'm sure there are many other such cases to go around too... Let's face it. There's just no accounting for taste... ;D

BTW, if anyone wants my 5th rounder to nab a nice steal in the Draft, let me know. Maybe there's something magical about my draft picks -- I'll even do a straight up for your early 2nd rounder, if that suits you... ;D

Maybe there's something magical about my draft picks Yeah - black magic, something occult. Or just plain old blind luck!
