It was not confirmed that I had won this bid until July 18 at 1:25pm. Up until that point, until the point that Man said "Yep", I did not know if I had won. It was not clear. If you want to penalize me for not knowing what was not clear, you're welcome to. In the meantime, the Tigers sign Jedd Gyorko for $350k

If you want to penalize me for not knowing what was not clear, you're welcome to. In the meantime, the Tigers sign Jedd Gyorko for $350k Scott, What confirmation did you need? It is *always* understood that the auction ends 24 hours after the last valid bid -- that's why Kris invalidated the Yankees' bid and updated the thread title (to reflect the Tigers' auction win) as soon as he noticed. We also stickied the thread to the top to indicate the auction ended (but have not yet updated the league spreadsheet for a legal signing). And it's also understood that you have 72 hours to complete legal signing. In the case of MiLB auctions, we have not required an explicit post to say you're signing the player since there is no need for additional contract details. However, you still need to make sure you have the open roster spot and available salary cap to complete legal signing. Also, generally, if we do not lock the auction thread, that probably means legal signing is not complete yet (as far as we're aware). Usually, if I subsequently notice that legal signing is not completed after a few days (perhaps a week or two later or due to some activity leading me to notice), I will alert the GM to that -- and I PMed you about this late last night after doing some checking, etc. Was it inconvenient how it worked out in this instance? I guess so, but that's just how these things can sometimes work out. Heck, I've missed the 72-hour deadline once early on myself too. Likewise, I'm sure the O's GM would feel it a bummer to lose Walker to someone else's invocation of the SWP rule a few days after the end of the 2-week grace period -- and the LO didn't make the end of that auction (and the timing of the grace period) anymore clear than this case w/ Gyorko...

I clearly voided the Yankees last bid and stated in the post the reason for doing so - the auction had already ended. Then I edited the subject of the post to include your team name - the same process that is utilized on every other thread and a clear indication that you had won the auction. Why else would your team name be on there?
Not only that, but Man responded to your question at 12:25 AM (CDT) on July 17th - you posted the Walker thread at 10:18 PM (CDT) on July 17th. So, when you posted the Walker thread, you knew without a doubt that you had won Gyorko - and should have known that you would need to drop someone in order to bid on someone else.

NOTE: Tigers are currently w/out FA bidding privileges for 1 week from the 72-hour deadline, ie. until 7/25 at 2:42am ET, after missing the deadline to complete legal signing of Gyorko.
Gyorko's signing is now complete w/ the waiving of Jared Mitchell to FA to open up the needed roster spot.

Anyway, should we take this to be your resignation from the league?

All,
We gave Scott a full week to return to the league, but he has not returned, so we're moving forward w/ making the Tigers available to a new replacement GM -- and already have someone in mind at this point...
