The League's 5th Annual MiLB Draft will begin 3/5 (Saturday) at 6am PT.
1. The draft order below is based on the reversed order of last year's standings and will be the same for each round. (This is not a snake draft.)
Draft
Order........ Team
1. Tigers
2. Expos
3. Nationals
4. Giants
5. Marlins
6. Mariners
7. Indians
8. Brown Sox
9. Angels
10. Royals
11. Mets
12. Yankees
13. Rays
14. Rockies
15. Dodgers
16. Cubs
17. Reds
18. Astros
2. Players drafted in the 1st round will have an MKIA prospect salary cost of $500,000. Players selected in the 2nd - 5th rounds will cost at $300,000.
3. Only players who meet the MKIA prospect eligibility criteria and who are under contract to a real life MLB team may be drafted.
4. Foreign professional players are not eligible for this draft until they have signed with a real life MLB team. And only those who either have at least some prior regular season MiLB experience in the USA *or* are under the age of 25-yo before the start of the draft will be eligible. All conditions must be achieved prior to the start of our draft.
5. Teams will be allowed 6 hours to make each selection. If a pick is missed/skipped, the team may make up the pick at their earliest convenience; however, if their next turn to pick occurs prior to the makeup, that turn will be automatically skipped.
In cases of consecutive picks, if no prior missed/skipped pick(s) remain outstanding, we will only auto-skip *AFTER* 2 consecutive picks have been missed/skipped -- and each such pick must be made w/in its own allotted time (of 6 hours) in order to satisfy this requirement or must be completely made up by the end of the 2nd pick clock.
For example, let's say some team has picks 1.18, 2.1 and 2.2. That team will effectively have a max of 12 hours to make picks 1.18 and 2.1. After pick 1.18 is made on time, they will have a max of 12 hours to make picks 2.1 and 2.2 -- and if they somehow end up w/ 2.3 also, the same applies. OTOH, if 1.18 is missed (or late), then *BOTH* 1.18 and 2.1 must be made by the end of 2.1's clock to avoid auto-skipping 2.2 -- and so on...
6. The time clock will be "frozen" from Midnight to 6 AM PT.
7. If the draft runs into the regular season, you may still replace a prospect already on your roster with a newly drafted prospect and not be responsible for 50% of the salary for the released prospect provided that released prospect was not acquired in FA. Otherwise, the usual rules for releasing players apply.
8. Draft picks may be traded no more than 15 months ahead of time.
9. As a courtesy, teams which have completed their selections prior to the end of the draft should advise the LO accordingly so that they can be skipped in subsequent rounds.
10. Any prospect eligible player not drafted may be acquired via MiLB FA after our MiLB Draft is completed. However, players acquired by real life MLB via the 2011 real life MLB June amateur draft are not eligible for our MiLB FA process until after our 2012 MiLB Draft.
11. The MiLB FA process will remain closed until after the completion of this draft -- and then, will open and remain so until the end of the regular season.
12. Any franchise deemed to be "inactive" (or have an MIA GM) by the LO, will have their picks made by the LO based on player draft order in the 2010 real life MLB Draft (depending on player availability as usual). The LO will generally not attempt to make such proxy picks using any other ranking methods, etc. However, the GM of such an "inactive" team may redo such proxy picks upon return to activity or new GM replacement at his/her earliest convenience w/in the usual limitations of current picks, eg. subject to current player availability, etc.
