After years of solid catching service, the Dodgers must finally bid farewell to our FA-bound star catcher, Brian McCann, along w/ a pair of youngsters in a move to shore up our pitching for the stretch run (into next year) by adding TJ-recovering star SP, Adam Wainwright, to our rotation in a trade w/ the rebuilding Twins.
The Dodgers send:
Brian McCann (8.5M for 2012) + Trevor Story (300K SS prospect) + Lucas Duda (750K for 2012, protected thru 2014)
to the Twins for:
Adam Wainwright (9M, 12M for 2012-2013)
Twins GM, Steve, to confirm. Thanks for the smooth negotiations, Steve. Hope this works out great for both sides.

Not counting your drops today, looks like you need to free up ~451K.

With the discount from Utley's new contract, Twins will have the necessary cap space to complete the trade.
Approved. Please update rosters and salary cap information.

With the updated understanding of how these things work, we probably still need to wait a bit before we can make the rostering moves on CBS, no?

Yeah, I would wait until the Utley and/or Hernandez auctions are completed and the cap space has officially cleared before approving on CBS.
