Dodgers bid farewell... Kershaw to Brown Sox

We really hate to do it -- and this took a while to consider and shop -- but our needs (both now and future) and the economics involved made this move a borderline necessity...

The Dodgers are bidding farewell to our young star staff ace, Clayton Kershaw (11M for 2013), whom we drafted #2 overall way back in 2007 (in MKIA's 1st annual MiLB Draft), and will send him along w/ setup RP Sean Marshall, young 1B/OF Chris Parmelee and young SP Dillon Gee to the Brown Sox in exchange for ace closer Jon Papelpon, young 2B/3B Matt Carpenter, closer Kevin Gregg and catcher AJ Pierzynski.

Here's the breakdown:

Jon Papelbon (6.5M, 9M, 10M for 2013-15) + Matt Carpenter (protected thru 2015) + Kevin Gregg (400K for 2013) + Pierzynski (400K for 2013)
