As discussed in this recent MiLB Draft logistics thread, the LO is considering some changes to the drafting rules, especially in terms of draft clock usage and management: mlbknowitalls.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=5161The main idea is to find a good compromise that works well enough for a few GMs on the other side of the world from the large majority of us located here in the Western Hemisphere while not slowing down the Draft too much in the process. After some discussions both privately and publicly in that thread, the LO has settled on a proposal w/ this list of viable options for a poll to determine which changes we'd try for our upcoming 2011 MiLB Draft. The choices are: This poll will be decided on simple majority vote, except options 1.1-1.3 will be lumped together as one for this purpose -- and then, the winner between those 3 will be taken as the actual choice. If you have any questions/concerns, please do feel free to ask away. We will leave this poll open for about a week to be decided before the start of the 2011 MiLB Draft. You may change your vote, if you find the need, while the poll remains open. NOTE: If the LO finds that the chosen changes don't work well enough in practice (in this upcoming draft), then we will revisit this issue again next year. Thanks for voting (and any feedback)...

FWIW, I will probably just abstain from voting (again) unless the leading choice for change could use that last bit of support towards the end.

For those who may want unrestricted pick trading, is "Expand clock to 8 hours; unrestricted pick trading" an option?

For those who may want unrestricted pick trading, is "Expand clock to 8 hours; unrestricted pick trading" an option? You want choice [2] for that, but that choice will also eliminate the clock freeze period (from midnight to 6am PT). Basically, there's no free lunch, so pick your choice of compromises. FWIW, I've updated the main post to include that bit of clarification (for choice [2]) although the poll choices themselves cannot be changed/updated after the initial posting.

Are people simply not keen on the available options, but would consider some other possibilities to help even out the drafting logistics for the couple GMs on the other side of the world?
Maybe I shoulda included a choice like "Let's try something else..."
Anyway, if you fall into that group, please do let me know -- and hopefully, offer some suggestions as to what might work both for you and the rest of the league.
Thanks.

This poll is closed now. We will keep the relevant draft rules as before.
